Course Objectives The aim of the course is to have knowledge about clinical biochemistry and to gain ability of doing clinical biochemistry test
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Classify sample types, collection and preparation methods used in clinical biochemistry laboratory.
  • Explain explain clinical biochemistry laboratory operation and analytical processes.
  • Define carbohydrate, protein, lipid tests in biological samples.
  • Define electrolyte and blood gase analysis.
  • Classify the types of biochemical analysis in CSF and urine.
  • Explain liver, kidney, heart, gastrointestinal system and bone metabolism tests.
Course Description This course include an introduction to clinical biochemistry, work-flow of the clinical laboratory, solutions, calculation of solution concentration, buffer solutions, tests of water-electrolyte metabolisms (analyze of sodium, potassium, chloride, magnesium) and acid-base equilibrium (blood gases), techniques used in clinical laboratories, tests for carbohydrate, lipid and protein measurement in body fluids, liver function tests, nitrogen and kidney function tests, heart function tests, gastrointestinal system function tests, bone metabolisms tests, follow therapeutic drug level, tumor markers, clinical enzymology, therapeutic drug level monitoring, tumor markers, urine analysis, CSF analysis, clinical laboratory statistics and quality management.
